Job summary

Heineken in Stellenbosch is seeking an Automation Technician to maintain electronic systems on existing machinery and support production lines. The role reports to the Maintenance Team Leader and requires standby after hours and weekend callouts, along with occasional extended hours.

You will install and upgrade electronic control systems, read circuit diagrams, and work with electrical components while coordinating with suppliers and contractors to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years relevant experience in the electronics environment.
• Knowledge of electrical components (contactors, overloads, starters, sensors, PT100, etc.).
• Familiar with conveyor line controls, automation and high-speed filling lines.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Willing to be on standby and respond to callouts after hours and on weekends.
• Willing to work extended hours as required.
• Ability to cope with the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

• Maintain electronic systems on existing machinery and equipment.
• Attend to electronic related equipment breakdowns.
• Fault finding in electronic equipment.
• Read and interpret complex circuit diagrams.
• Attending to electrical related equipment breakdowns, if required.
• Provide inputs for budgets (OPEX and CAPEX).
• Dealing with suppliers and contractors.
