Job Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and mentorship to other team members.
- Train new team members on methodologies, tools, and test scripts used by the team.
- Help team members understand existing functionality and new requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve testing productivity, processes, and procedures.
- Promote testing best practices aligned with industry standards.
- Collaborate with the product owner and development team lead to develop test plans from specifications.
- Define and implement test methodologies for the technology team.
- Ensure compliance with QA practices to meet documentation, signoff, and stakeholder expectations.
Requirements Management
- Analyze requirements for completeness, correctness, and clarity.
- Perform quality checks on logged requirements.
- Assist in implementing agile boards and sprint planning.
- Work with the development team to troubleshoot and identify root causes of bugs.
- Analyze defects across the company and propose solutions.
- Drive defect reduction through continuous improvement processes.
Test Management
- Conduct project reviews to ensure testing quality.
- Identify and address constraints affecting work output.
- Communicate delays or issues to stakeholders.
- Plan and execute test requests aligned with project priorities and timelines.
Reporting
- Provide test analysis and reports.
- Report test progress, results, and key metrics to stakeholders.
- Monitor system health via defect leakage and motivate remedial actions.
- Provide metrics on testing costs and project risks.
User Acceptance Testing
- Coordinate validation testing with internal and external developers.
- Ensure end-user sign-off documents are obtained.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Matric, ISTQB Foundation certification is essential.
- Relevant IT tertiary qualification and training on development and testing IDEs.
- Experience with MS SQL Server, Visual Studio / Code, GIT.
- Specific training in test automation and techniques.
- 3-5 years of practical experience in software test automation.
- 1-2 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of testing methodologies, test planning, case development, and quality assessment.
- Understanding of QC and QA concepts across SDLC.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
- Good understanding of coding principles and bespoke system functions.
- Familiarity with development and testing tools.
- Ability to work in a dynamic automation team and adapt to changing environments.
- Technically inclined with leadership and independent working capabilities.
- Willingness to work extended hours and travel.
- Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
