Job description

What you will do

The main purpose of the job is to provide diagnostic and fault-finding expertise for all auto-electrical work, including advice to technicians where required.

Reporting : This position reports to the Team Leader.

Job Objectives :

  1. Fault tracing and diagnosis on Volvo products.
  2. Apply knowledge and experience to interpret symptoms of “under performance” or failure of components.
  3. Follow directives provided in Workshop Manuals.
  4. Interpret Volvo manuals, specifications, directives, and instructions. Produce work of acceptable standards as per instructions/directives.
  5. Maintain work quality according to standards and follow repair and maintenance instructions.
  6. Provide comprehensive and accurate reports of diagnosis, component failures, observations, actions, and recommendations. Document all activities and job cards.
  7. Follow instructions from management and supervisors, and produce work to Volvo standards and specifications.
  8. Complete job cards upon work completion, including details like complaint, cause, correction, and service information.
  9. Ensure housekeeping is maintained to Volvo standards, tools are maintained, and work areas are kept clean and organized.
  10. Assist with mechanical repairs when auto-electrical work is insufficient or as requested.
  11. Comply with ISO 9001 standards and safety regulations.

Qualification & Job Experience

  • Matric / N3 qualification.
  • Qualified Auto Electrician.
  • Health and safety training courses.
  • At least 3 years of experience in maintenance and repairs of commercial vehicles.
  • Experience with Volvo is an advantage.

  • Possession of a PRDP driver’s license.
