Job Description

Support the audit practice’s System of Quality controls and the implementation and application of auditing standards, methodology, and applicable regulations through:

• Consultations
• Monitoring
• Regulator’s inspections
• Internal inspections
• Developing high-performing people and teams, leading and supporting them to make an impact that matters, and setting the direction to deliver exceptional client service
• Performing independent risk-focused reviews of engagement files under the continuous monitoring programme
• Identifying non-compliance with methodology and auditing standards
• Using experience, research, and the ISA/Deloitte Methodology to develop solutions to issues identified on internal inspections and designing/suggesting best practices for practitioners
• Holding constructive discussions, challenging senior members of the engagement team on audit risks and approach
• Liaising with engagement teams to resolve issues
• Providing added value for engagement teams and the wider audit practice, supporting quality audits by collating insights and communication
• Performing causal factor analysis to identify root causes
• Challenging remediation plans
• Supporting practitioners through external inspections
• Monitoring functions including independence and AWM monitoring
• Conducting independent risk-based audits of the firm’s system of quality control
• Liaising with senior leadership on quality management systems
• Retaining engagement documentation
• Reporting on compliance and execution

Qualifications

• Honours Accounting Degree
• Registered CA(SA)
• 7 years of working experience, including 5 years in a client-facing role and 3 in management
• Preference for candidates with audit experience in financial services industries such as banking, insurance, retirement funds, and medical schemes
