Wits University is seeking a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Anatomical Sciences for a full-time permanent position. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, supervise research, and contribute to research within the department. A PhD in Anatomical Sciences and a proven track record in teaching and research is required, along with experience in mentoring students and grant applications.
This is a full-time permanent position to undertake the following :
1) Teaching of undergraduate and Postgraduate Students in Anatomical Sciences courses.
2) Supervision of postgraduate Research.
3) Advance existing research within the Department and / or develop new areas of research in Anatomical Sciences.
4) Provide mentoring to Students.
Job Requirements
Associate Professor
Teaching Experience :
Evidence of teaching load, course (curriculum) development and academic administration, planning and development in Anatomical Sciences.
A formal qualification in Health Sciences Education would be an advantage.
Graduation of at least four (4) Masters and at least one (1) doctoral student or equivalent level
Research Experience :
Established research record and output. Evidence of an independent and ongoing research programme. Evidence of grantsmanship external to the University.
A minimum of 20 DoHET / ISI accredited publications and as the first and / or last (senior) authorships on at least ten (10) publications.
Principal investigator on grant applications, recipient of awards.
Teaching Experience :
Evidence of teaching load, course (curriculum) development and academic administration, planning and development.
A formal qualification in Health Sciences Education would be an advantage.
Graduation of at least two (2) postgraduate students at master’s level
Research Experience :
Demonstrate self-initiated, independent research and ongoing scholarly ability.
Evidence of grantsmanship would be an advantage.
A minimum of eight (8) DoHET / ISI-accredited original research publications and be the first or senior author on at least four (4) publications.
