Position Overview

The Faculty of Health Sciences at UJ seeks to appoint an Associate Professor qualified and registered in Complementary Medicine, to contribute to teaching, research, community engagement, and CPD development, aligning with the university's vision and goals.

The candidate will undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervise research, develop curricula, and participate in community outreach and CPD activities.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Department of Complementary Medicine.
  • Engaging in academic administration, course development, consulting, and community projects.
  • Maintaining a high-impact teaching portfolio, evidenced by evaluations and peer assessments.
  • Facilitating theory-practice integration in Complementary Medicine.
  • Embarking on research-led teaching at all levels.
  • Participating in research activities, producing publications, and applying for research funding.
  • Contributing to faculty policies on teaching and learning.

Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD or Doctorate in Complementary Medicine modalities, specifically Acupuncture and Phytotherapy.
  • Minimum of five years' lecturing experience at a higher education institution.
  • Experience in postgraduate supervision and publications.
  • Strong commitment to research-led teaching and innovation.
  • Experience in securing external research grants.
