Job Purpose

This is a front office role within Leveraged and Diversified Finance, which is part of the greater Investment Bank. Leveraged and Diversified Finance is focused on originating, implementing and maintaining term funding transactions across the risk curve (Investment Grade, Leverage Finance, Preference Shares, Mezzanine and Equity-Backed facilities). The sectors that are covered include: Private Equity, Investment Holding Companies, BEE, Family Offices, Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, FMCG, Retail, Travel & Leisure, General Industrials & Services, Automotive and Financial Institutions (Insurers and Asset Managers).

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist the team to originate transactions and grow assets through market knowledge, deep client relationships, networking, active marketing and pitching potential transactions to both existing and prospective clients of the Bank
  • Lead the execution process - efficient and flawless transaction execution across all required workstreams to ensure timely delivery for internal stakeholders and our clients. These workstreams include:
  • Pitch books and presentations for client origination
  • Excel modelling and credit analysis/forecasting of potential transactions
  • Internal committee preparation and presentation including credit papers, investment committee papers and business forum documents
  • Transaction credit rating and pricing process
  • Legal agreement review
  • Assist the team in structuring innovative transactions that provide solutions to our clients.
  • Take a CIB-wide view of clients to drive cross-sell opportunities across the CIB franchise.
  • Contribute positively to the team culture and inspire excellence in each individual.
  • Build and sustain trusting internal and external relationships and alliances across functional and organizational boundaries through collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage risks, credit loss ratios and profitability by actively managing exposures within the LDF portfolio
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
  • Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree

Chartered Accountant (SA), Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (Not essential)

Minimum Experience Level
  • Minimum of 3-5 years banking / relevant sector experience, with a strong background in lending and/or supporting lending teams in leveraged finance and corporate lending industry, specifically relating to South Africa.
