Role Overview

The Associate Investment Officer will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa, supporting infrastructure projects across Southern Africa. Responsibilities include sourcing, structuring, negotiating, and supervising investment projects, with a focus on infrastructure sectors such as energy, transportation, water, and natural resources.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Business Development: Gather market intelligence, source opportunities, assess projects, and prepare internal reports.
  2. Structuring and Negotiation: Evaluate, structure, negotiate, and close debt and equity transactions.
  3. Deal Execution: Support pre-investment engagements and manage transactions efficiently.
  4. Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to IFC's knowledge base and participate in dissemination activities.
  5. Coordination: Collaborate with WBG colleagues on sector reform and investment facilitation.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in business, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in development finance, investment banking, project finance, or infrastructure development.
  • Strong financial modeling and structuring skills.
  • Proven track record in sourcing and closing infrastructure investments, preferably in Africa.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; French and Portuguese are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and internationally.
