Job title : Associate, Investment Officer, Fintech Venture Capital

Job Location : Gauteng, Johannesburg

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Conduct industry and market research/mapping to identify a pipeline of direct investments in fintech.
  2. Support the execution of direct, co-investment and follow-on financing opportunities in the fintech sector in Africa.
  3. Analyze financial statements and prepare financial models.
  4. Support the team in all aspects of IFC’s deal approval process, including due diligence and preparation of investment-related documents for internal and external audiences.
  5. Support supervision of portfolio companies including preparation of portfolio reports and related compliance-related information.
  6. Coordinate closely with IFC's internal departments to ensure maintenance of the highest corporate governance, environmental and social, and integrity standards.

Selection Criteria

  1. The selected candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:
  2. Holds a master’s degree or equivalent degree in finance, economics, business or engineering.
  3. At least 5 years of experience in investment banking, consulting or PE preferred;
  4. Strong financial, analytical and modeling skills.
  5. Strong interest in developing markets, fintech and emerging technology areas.
  6. Team player with strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work successfully with colleagues from various cultural backgrounds.
  7. Willingness to travel;
  8. Excellent communication and presentation skills;
  9. Fluency in spoken and written English.
