Job description

The Assistant Warehouse Manager will support the Warehouse Manager in overseeing the overall performance of the warehouse, ensuring operational objectives and performance standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all aspects of customer requirements, including inventory accuracy, distribution, receiving, housekeeping, and logistics.
  • Support the execution of all warehouse operations alongside the Warehouse Manager.
  • Assist with planning, directing, and implementing warehouse operations and procedures to meet productivity and service levels.
  • Assist with labour management, directing the warehouse team to achieve objectives and standards.
  • Support the development of a productive, motivated workforce by assisting with effective hiring, training, and development of staff.
  • Assist with conducting performance reviews and ensuring regular feedback to direct reports and warehouse staff.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all internal and external customers, and establish programmes to improve customer awareness.
  • Support inventory management to meet accuracy objectives and standards.
  • Assist with stock management, focusing on minimising damages and losses.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining safety and housekeeping standards, ensuring compliance with safety certifications for forklift drivers and OHSA guidelines.
  • Assist with procuring equipment and managing preventative maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Support the drive for automation within processes to achieve cost and efficiency savings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant Degree (Essential)
  • End-to-end general warehouse management experience
  • Excellent planning, controlling, staffing, budgeting, organising, and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and execute root cause analyses and corrective actions
  • Ability to create and implement innovative operational solutions
  • Strong networking, relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills
  • Financial acumen and effective decision-making skills
  • Experience managing projects and risk
  • Excellent computer skills (WMS experience essential)
  • Self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills
