An exciting and challenging opportunity has become available for an Assistant Store Manager. The successful individual will report to the Store Manager.

Job Purpose

To support the Store Manager in ensuring the efficient operation of the store and service excellence by driving sales and building customer loyalty to meet sales, profit, and compliance targets, leading to a competitive advantage for the brand.

Job Objectives
  1. Ensure the achievement of the store's financial performance by driving and maximising sales through promotional activities, cross-selling, up-selling initiatives, and superior customer service.
  2. Execute all operational activities, including expenses, stock management, shrinkage, housekeeping, and administration.
  3. Implement in-store visual merchandising standards to align with brand image.
  4. Support the Store Manager in motivating staff to achieve targets and manage performance in their absence.
  5. Maintain the work schedule in line with labour policies to ensure appropriate staffing.
  6. Execute customer service initiatives that enhance the customer experience, drive loyalty, and promote club card participation.
  7. Complete administrative responsibilities efficiently, including weekly time and attendance records.
  8. Promote the brand as the first choice health and beauty retailer by embodying company values.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Essential: Grade 12 (Maths 50%, English 50%)
  • Desirable: Degree in Retail or Business Management
  • Minimum 1 year's experience in an assistant store management role within retail/FMCG or successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme.
  • Financial management experience (budgets, P&L, ratios).
Knowledge and Skills
  • Understanding of financial principles, merchandising, promotions, stock, cost, risk, and compliance management.
  • Customer service excellence and labour legislation knowledge.
  • People management, competency-based interviewing, results-driven, planning, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Strong customer orientation and ability to work under pressure.
