Job Description

Learn the operations of all departments and the duties of store management; share responsibility for store performance in all areas of operation / human resources.

Responsibilities

• Assist store manager & associates in providing a favorable customer shopping experience & develop associate interest in customer service / relations to enhance Kroger's reputation
• Assist store manager in leading teams in planning, implementing & executing merchandising / operating initiatives
• Help develop action plans / communications based on Associate Insight survey results
• Identify store opportunities, develop solutions & create action plans for implementation
• Model and demand high levels of customer service & resolve issues
• Manage total store operations in store manager’s absence
• Achieve and exceed sales, wage, profit, safety, and shrink targets
• Drive sales by collaborating with department managers to maximize sales & profits
• Participate in financial performance discussions and budget development
• Analyze the competitive landscape and respond accordingly
• Demonstrate inclusive leadership and promote inclusive behavior among staff
• Utilize coordinators and staff to achieve sales and profit goals
• Build relationships with community organizations and union representatives if applicable
• Communicate effectively with associates and serve as liaison with district managers
• Assist in staffing, reducing turnover, and increasing retention
• Provide performance feedback and assist with labor and supply cost management
• Ensure compliance with laws and policies
• Supervise and coach staff, conduct performance reviews

Qualifications

• High school diploma / GED
• At least 1 year of experience as a department or service manager
• Approval from store/district manager or direct manager
• Retail management experience & knowledge of store operations
• Staff supervisory experience
