PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE
To facilitate the multiple sports offered at the Club, encouraging participation from Members through effective communication of sporting events and coordination with various sporting bodies for leagues and teams. To increase sports awareness at the Club by designing programs that align with Member interests.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Grow membership participation and usage of the Club through sports.
- Assist in managing the Sports Department.
- Ensure each individual has the necessary resources for their role.
- Review all communications before dissemination.
- Represent the club in sporting sub-committees and forums.
- Create and manage sporting events, including clinics, from planning to execution—covering marketing, booking, catering, and billing.
- Prepare monthly reports on sub-clubs.
- Communicate with sporting organizations (e.g., ASA, CGA).
- Assist with stock control of sporting merchandise.
- Support Junior sports zones.
- Participate in member sporting events and club rides to ensure safety and route adherence.
- Ensure members sign indemnity forms.
- Engage with members to gather feedback and promote participation.
- Motivate participants and facilitate coaching or sports classes when needed.
- Communicate via email, social media, and WhatsApp; contribute content for newsletters and social media.
- Expand the Sporting Section and explore new disciplines.
- Maintain and grow member databases with sporting interests and upcoming events.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent social and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (intermediate/advanced).
- Knowledge of Jonas Software is an advantage.
- Fluent in social media platforms (Facebook, Google, Twitter, Instagram).
- Creative and forward-thinking.
MINIMUM / PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
- 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role or sporting environment.
- Physically fit and active, able to assemble equipment.
- Up-to-date with current sports trends and knowledge.
- Available to participate in sports activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Matric or equivalent.
- Preferred: Tertiary qualification in Sports Marketing or Sports Management.
- Valid SA driver’s license and own reliable transport.
