An Assistant Materials Tester is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the company equipment regularly and ensuring all test equipment is cleaned after each job.
Responsible for the neatness of apparatus and environment, including cleaning the site or workshop where the job was carried out, and ensuring it is free of all consumables used (e.g., masking tape, tins).
Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
Report deviations, irregularities, and nonconformances orally.
Perform any other reasonable tasks assigned by the site supervisor, laboratory manager, or regional manager.
Conduct quality and safety inspections as required.
Perform daily safety talks at the start of each shift and submit related paperwork to the Senior Inspector.
Handle all handover activities to the next shift efficiently.
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and enforce its use, storage, and maintenance among operators.
Maintain good housekeeping and keep the workplace clean and tidy.
Adhere to all quality and safety standards of the SGS management system.
Qualifications:
Matric / Grade 12 completed.
Sampling and preparation experience is advantageous.
Physically willing and able to handle and move samples as required.
Proficiency in English.
Basic literacy and good penmanship.
Ability to understand, implement, and maintain the quality system requirements after training.
Ability to understand, implement, and maintain Civil Engineering Test Methods after training (e.g., SANS THN 1).
Additional Information:
Sampling and preparation experience is advantageous.
Must be physically willing and able to handle and move samples as required.
