Assistant Manager | Cape Town – CBD | Smash Burger Restaurant

We are looking for experienced RESTAURANT ASSISTANT MANAGER to join the management team of a high-energy, fast-paced smash burger restaurant, situated in De Waterkant, Cape Town.

The restaurant is known for a great quality and fresh ingredients, fast service, and fun atmosphere.

Job Summary:

As an Assistant Manager, you’ll play a key role in the daily operations of the restaurant. From leading the team on busy shifts to handling administrative duties, your leadership and organizational skills will ensure we deliver top-notch food and service every time. You must bepunctual, dependable, strong under pressure, and always ready to lead by example.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing day-to-day operations in a fast-paced environment
• Lead, motivate, and support team members during service
• Ensure all staff adhere to food safety, hygiene, and health standards
• Monitor food quality and consistency
• Handle customer issues or complaints with professionalism
• Assist with training and onboarding new team members
• Maintain inventory levels and place orders when needed
• Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed thoroughly
• Help with scheduling and managing shift coverage
• Perform administrative tasks such as logging reports, managing invoices, and stock ordering
• Step into any role as needed – from grill to front-of-house

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a supervisory or assistant management role in hospitality/food service
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to stay calm under pressure
• Excellent communication and team management abilities
• Strong work ethic, high attention to detail, and a hands-on attitude
• Must be reliable and punctual – we need someone the team can count on
• Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Basic understanding of administrative tasks (scheduling, inventory, reporting)
• Physically able to stand for long periods

Salary package:

• Gross salary ZAR 15000
• Year-end performance bonus
