JOB TITLE: Assistant Manager – Audit
LOCATION: Polokwane
REPORTING TO: Audit Manager / Partner
DEPARTMENT: Audit & Assurance
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time

Hire Resolve's Client is seeking to hire a Assistant Manager for their Audit firm based in Polokwane, Limpopo.To provide high-quality audit services to clients, manage audit engagements, supervise teams, and support the overall delivery of the audit strategy. The Assistant Manager will play a critical role in ensuring that work is delivered in compliance with relevant auditing standards and firm policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAudit Engagement Management

  • Plan and execute audit assignments in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (ISAs).
  • Prepare audit strategies and risk assessments for engagements.
  • Monitor progress against budgets and timelines, addressing overruns or delays proactively.
  • Review working papers and audit files for quality and completeness.
  • Identify and communicate audit findings and recommend solutions to clients.
Client Relationship Management
  • Maintain effective communication with clients throughout the engagement.
  • Assist with resolving client queries and issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships and demonstrate commitment to client service.
Team Supervision and Development
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members during audit engagements.
  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and performance feedback to staff.
  • Promote a collaborative team environment that supports learning and development.
Compliance and Reporting
  • Ensure all audits are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and firm methodologies.
  • Prepare and review audit reports, management letters, and supporting documentation.
  • Support in preparing reports for Audit Committee or Board presentation, when required.
Practice Management
  • Contribute to business development through identifying potential opportunities and supporting proposal efforts.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives within the audit team.
  • Keep abreast of changes in audit standards, tax regulations, and industry developments.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Education:

  • BCom Accounting / BCompt degree (or equivalent)
  • Completion of SAICA Articles
  • CA(SA) or equivalent qualification (preferred or in final stages of completion)
  • Experience:

  • 2–4 years’ post-articles experience within an audit firm
  • Experience in supervising audits and leading teams
  • Exposure to diverse industries and client types is advantageous
  • Technical Competencies:

  • Sound knowledge of IFRS, ISA, Companies Act, and relevant tax legislation
  • Proficient in CaseWare and MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Behavioural Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Client service orientation
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational ability
