Interwaste, a leader in waste management solutions across Southern Africa, is seeking a seasoned Assistant Fleet Controller to join our team at the Pinetown, Durban depot. Role Overview
Provide excellent operational and administrative support to the Depot Manager to ensure that customers' requirements regarding loads, are met as well as to meet targets set by the company.

Key Responsibilities
OPERATIONS
- Customer interactions and liaison – service delays or challenges
- Carry overs for work completed in committed time frame
- Responsible for the vehicle de-brief. (Detailed check of the vehicle for damage, oil levels etc.)
- Ensure all damages that are reported are fixed timeously
- Record the daily opening and closing KMs of vehicle up against hour meter
- Vehicle SHEQ requirements – ensure spill kits, broom and spades are all preset
- Vehicle re-fuelling Requirements - Fuel management check KPI
- Monitor and report vehicle abuse, over speeding etc – intermediate C track reporting
- Responsible for retrieving vehicle quotes and order numbers
- Responsible for vehicle maintenance, tyre management, breakdown and accident reporting and investigation
- Daily reporting on productivity to management and present in operations meetings
- Responsible for site audit requirements. – ensuring no full bins in depot
- Receiving of all waste and recyclables into the MRF
- Ensuring only waste permitted to be received into ATS is received
- Ensuring the correct disposal facility and off take facility is used for each load collected
- To demonstrate effective and cost-efficient routing at all times
- Ensuring all bins delivered and exchanged are in good working conditions
- Responsible for the roll out of new clients / equipment and service offerings met
- Regular Driver and PPE inspections
- Managing time attendance (clockings)
- Discipline when and where necessary
- Ensure all vehicles are loaded for their work load the previous night
- Keep the MRF clear as possible and keep build-up of waste to a minimum
- Communicate with Sales when and where necessary
- Book trucks in for service / COF and arrange contingency plans so the operations are not affected
- Arrange and plan for leave for all Drivers and Assistants
- Manage sick leave and any irregularities in submission
- Ensure paperwork is completed correctly – manifest and day sheets completed
MENTORSHIP AND SKILLS TRANSFERRANCE
- Ensure all subordinates and colleagues are up-skilled and ensure transference of skills through mentorship and coaching
- Provide training and guidance for new employees and ensure they are assisted
COMMUNICATION AND FEEDBACK
- Ensure all your superiors are notified in a timely manner regarding aspects of your areas as deemed necessary by them
- Deal with personnel matters such as reporting incidents, customer complaints, requesting new employees, extension of contracts and terminations to your manager

ADHOC
- Any other reasonable adhoc duty as required or requested by management
- It should be noted that individuals may need to expand their roles / scope to cover the work load of other employees in times of high workloads or individuals whom may be absent from work. This is the sole discretion of management
HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Drive the Company’s’ Zero Harm policy within your area of operations.
- Compliance with all health & safety requirements in line with the company's OHS policies & procedures.
- Work within the ISO frameworks and other required by Clients.
- Ensure all SHEQ policies and requirements are upheld and met.
- Ensure SHEQ site file is implemented and maintained

Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years in similar position and experience in route planning and optimisation
- Excellent attention to detail
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook,etc) and Navi Vision
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work overtime when required
