Job description

Assistant Financial Manager

A Food Commodities company in Sandton is looking for an Assistant Financial Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of all accounting records, assisting in preparing financial reports, and consolidating accounts for various entities within the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and record all accounting transactions accurately.
  • Assist in preparing the monthly Management Reporting Pack and submit it to Group Finance and Corporate Controller.
  • Present the Management Reporting Pack to the EXCO team during review meetings.
  • Help prepare the annual budget (SGA) and re-forecasting exercises for local entities.
  • Reconcile all general ledger accounts regularly.
  • Manage petty cash expenses and prepare daily cash reports.
  • Review bank reconciliations weekly.
  • Post daily broker account transactions and reconcile monthly broker statements.
  • Ensure expense entries are correctly booked in the accounting software after approval.
  • Maintain supplier reconciliations and ensure timely payments.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and reconciliations on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
  • Generate ad-hoc financial reports as needed.
  • Prepare weekly forex exposure and working capital reports.
  • Verify vendor banking details through call-backs.
  • Reconcile TDS monthly and handle submissions.
