Job Description

To ensure that the integrity of the General Ledger is maintained and that the financial information is complete, accurate, and valid. Key Performance Areas

  1. Manage the division's month-end, close-off process to meet deadlines and ensure all General Ledger entries are complete.
  2. Complete and reconcile monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  3. Perform variance analysis comparing actual results versus budget and forecast.
  4. Review reports from Internal Audit and coordinate necessary changes.
  5. Prepare monthly forecasts for the division.
  6. Assign, monitor, and coordinate work assignments.
  7. Identify training needs and arrange training for team members.
  8. Sign off on all trial balances and financial accounts before reports are sent to Business Units.
  9. Evaluate the performance of professional staff through appraisals.
  10. Analyze and interpret financial data.
  11. Ensure timely payments, including payments to suppliers based on requisitions.
  12. Manage the company's fixed assets, ensuring correct loading, depreciation, and physical verification.
  13. Assess financial components across departments, identify impacts on profit, and communicate risks and recommendations to management.
  14. Perform other related duties as required.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Financial Controller

Work direction: Provides advice and oversight but not direct supervision of non-subordinate staff.

Supervision

Work is checked after completion; the incumbent works independently following policies and standards, with supervision mainly through spot checks and reviews.

Decisions and Actions

Moderate impact; mistakes are detectable upon review and can be costly to correct. High-pressure environment; occasional need for immediate decisions.

Job Requirements

Educational Requirements: B Comm

Experience: 2+ years as a financial accountant in a commercial setting.

Special Skills: Advanced Excel and Word; reporting; interpersonal skills; communication skills; analytical skills; accuracy.
