We are looking for experienced and ambitious Assistant Engineering Manager (AEM / Workshop Manager) to join Arriva.
As an Assistant Engineering Manager, your role involves assisting the Garage Engineering Manager in running an efficient workshop that meets targets, ensuring service delivery to meet PVR requirements at all times, operating within budget, and delivering core KPIs and regulatory compliance.

Main Responsibilities

- Be the designated person onsite for depot security and ensure all team members adhere to safe working practices and environment regulations.
- Follow instructions from the Engineering Manager, undertake all work as outlined in the Leader Standard Work document, and perform other tasks as required.
- Lead and supervise the team to ensure the efficient and safe servicing, maintenance, repair, overhaul, and cleaning of vehicles and components according to specifications.
- Identify, plan, and allocate workload to ensure it is balanced and timely. Liaise with Working Chargehands to maintain on-road engineering performance within targets, ensuring clear communication and data capture.
- Ensure team adherence to working instructions, health & safety regulations, quality procedures, and environmental systems.
Requirements:
- A strong engineering background with proven experience in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy vehicles, equipment, and/or machinery, preferably in the Bus / HGV industry.
- Recognized apprenticeship or vocational qualification in a relevant mechanical, electrical engineering, or similar field. Alternatively, a degree or diploma in engineering or vehicle maintenance.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety, leading by example in adherence to policies, practices, and procedures (IOSH).
- Ability to lead and supervise a team to foster a safe and effective working environment.
