Job description

Job Purpose

To assist with the enforcement and general administration of enforcement matters in terms of non-compliance with the Financial Intelligence Centre Act 38 of 2001 (the FIC Act).

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  1. Assist with enforcing compliance with the provisions of the FIC Act.
  2. Draft relevant administrative sanction notices for issuing administrative sanctions under the FIC Act.
  3. Assist in presenting matters for administrative sanctions to the FIC Adjudication Panel and/or Director, including oral and written arguments.
  4. Draft and file pleadings in appeals against administrative sanctions issued by the FIC.
  5. Compile evidence packs and submissions for the Adjudication Panel and the Director.
  6. Assist with providing guidance, advice, and training on enforcement of the FIC Act under supervision.
  7. Provide legal opinions and conduct legal research related to the FIC Act.
  8. Attend and respond to enforcement correspondence.
  9. Monitor and report on sanctions issued, payments, recovery, and enforcement activities.
  10. Maintain enforcement registers and extract statistics.
  11. Draft memoranda and correspondence to stakeholders and internal teams.
  12. Assist in preparing responses to public enforcement queries.
  13. Attend meetings and record minutes.
  14. Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the unit/Manager, consistent with the role.
  15. Deliver operational goals and tasks under guidance.

Education, Skills, and Experience

Education

  • University Law Degree (NQF7)

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year in a junior legal role (e.g., Candidate Attorney or Junior Prosecutor)
  • Experience in Administrative Law is advantageous
  • Completion of Practical Legal Training is advantageous
