Job Purpose
The below is the role purpose of an Electrician your role is to Assist:
Accurate and safe Supervision and set-up of electrical equipment, installation, maintenance and commissioning of electrical wiring, control and instrumentation systems, fault finding and repairs on electrical systems on site and in the workshop as well as providing administrative support to the Project Manager. Coordination of project execution, documentation, perform project research, and assist in data entry tasks.
Required: Qualifications
- Matric (Grade 12)
- N3 Electrical Engineering Certificate
- Trade Test
- ORHVS Certificate (Advantage)
- First Aid Level 1 (Advantage)
Required: Experience
- 2-3 Years’ experience in electrical areas within an Engineering or Construction environment.
- 2-3 years’ post experience relevant to the maintenance of electrical infrastructure, including back-up generators, interior & exterior lighting, MV switchgear and transformers, Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS’s) and LV building installations
- 2 Years Fault Finding & Repairs.
- 2 years Electrical Experience in Panel Wiring
Job Specification & Key Responsibilities
The below is the role of an Electrician your role is to Assist
Installation & Assembly
- Assist in assembling, installing, and testing electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand and power tools.
- Plan layouts and installations based on job specifications and local codes.
- Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as Motor Control Centers (MCCs).
Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform maintenance on electrical infrastructure, including backup generators, interior and exterior lighting, Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear, transformers, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), and Low Voltage (LV) building installations.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using appropriate tools.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical systems.
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of breakdowns and correct problems.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, ensuring compliance with codes.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment, ensuring conformance to building and safety codes.
- Document operational activities and write reports for site-based activities.
- Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
- Responsible for safety and housekeeping on-site and in the workshop.
- Attend to any site-related queries as required.
General & Training Development
- Undertake other tasks and responsibilities appropriate to the level of this post as required.
- Assist with Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
- Undertake Specific Client Training as required to fulfil role.
