Job description

To support the effective implementation of Company communication strategies and to enhance the image of the department through media liaison.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Customise media liaison services to journalists to suit each medium.

  1. Assist with the coordination of engagement activities with media organisations to promote Company programmes, projects and events.
  2. Maintain and update the media database for the distribution and publication of media statements and media invites.
  3. Assist in organising meeting logistics to conduct media briefings and media engagements.
  4. Facilitate liaison with communication officials in other government departments, research institutions and science council about the Company opportunities.
  5. Request information for the development of communication strategies, advisories and press releases.

Media Monitoring of coverage pertaining to the department and the National System of Innovation

  1. Distribution of daily and weekly media clippings to all relevant Company staff members.
  2. Compilation of thematic media monitoring reports.
  3. Request information from service provider for data on Media Analysis for the development of monthly and quarterly media monitoring reports.
  4. Process payments to service providers and maintain the relationship between Company and the media monitoring service provider.

Internal and external Publication and Communication

  1. Participate in the development of material and messaging for distribution to internal users.
  2. Write articles and take pictures of Company activities for publication.
  3. Facilitate the collection and distribution of information on traditional and new platforms (facebook, twitter, etc) as and when required.
  4. Liaise with Community radio stations in securing interview slots to profile the work of the Department and National System of Innovation.

Provide media liaison, marketing and events assistance with Special Projects

  1. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in drafting media plans for special events or projects.
  2. Coordinate hosting of live radio and television broadcasts to promote flagship projects of Company Entities.
  3. Provide onsite liaison and support during Company exhibitions and events.
  4. Provide logistical and administrative support and ensure internal controls are implemented and adhered to.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience
2 years’ experience in media liaison and media monitoring.

Qualifications
NQF level 6 qualification in Media studies/ Communication/ Journalism / Business Communication.
