PURPOSE: To support the effective implementation of the Company communication strategies and to enhance the image of the department through media liaison.
QUALIFICATIONS:
NQF level 6 qualification in Media studies, Business Communication, Communication, Journalism, or Business Communication.
EXPERIENCE:
2 years' experience in media liaison and media monitoring.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customise media liaison services to journalists to suit each medium.
Assist with the coordination of engagement activities with media organisations to promote the Company programmes, projects, and events.
Maintain and update the media database for the distribution and publication of media statements and media invites.
Assist in organising meeting logistics to conduct media briefings and media engagements.
Facilitate liaison with communication officials in other government departments, research institutions, and science councils about the Company opportunities.
Request information for the development of communication strategies, advisories, and press releases.
Media Monitoring of coverage pertaining to the department and the National System of Innovation.
Distribution of daily and weekly media clippings to all relevant Company staff members.
Compilation of thematic media monitoring reports.
Request information from service providers for data on Media Analysis for the development of monthly and quarterly media monitoring reports.
Process payments to service providers and maintain the relationship between the Company and the media monitoring service provider.
Participate in the development of material and messaging for distribution to internal users.
Write articles on the Company activities for publication.
