Job description

Main purpose of position

The Company requires an experienced Assistant Construction Site Manager to be appointed within the EPC (Principal Contractor) Team for the Project, with the responsibility to assist the Construction Manager in constructing the PV facility.

The project will use a split-contract solution, where the Company as the Principal Contractor manages various Subcontractors to execute the works. Constructing the PV Plant will require close collaboration between the Company EPC team, Subcontractors, and Owner’s Engineers to ensure the project's success.

The Assistant Construction Site Manager will be based at the Bolobedu PV Project construction site for the duration of the project.

Position specification :

  • Role : Assistant Construction Manager
  • Location : Ga-Kgapane, Limpopo
  • Duration : 12 months

Main responsibilities :

  • Business Line : Follow guidelines set by the Construction Manager, propose improvements or optimizations on procedures.
  • Assist in planning and managing technical project resources to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Review and ensure technical documentation compliance by service providers and contractors.
  • Assist Construction Manager :
  • Manage and interface with contractors and suppliers on technical aspects.
  • Support in completing project documentation.
  • Site Management organization :
  • Ensure project implementation aligns with the Final Project Design.
  • Manage design change requests and monitor work adherence to schedule, compliance, and quality.
  • Provide technical support to the team.
  • Enforce HSE and Quality procedures, act as OHS Act 8.1 appointee, and promote a Zero Tolerance policy on site safety.
  • Conduct site inspections, monitor activities, and ensure compliance with permits and standards.
  • Manage team and contractors to comply with the Project’s EMPr and EA.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining onsite offices and facilities.
  • Report activities to the Project Manager.
  • Manage site logistics and stakeholder interfacing.
  • Coordinate with Subcontractors, Environmental Control Officer, Owner’s Engineer, LTA, Eskom, and local authorities.
  • Host site visits and facilitate audits.

Education and Technical Skills Level :

  • Degree/Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of relevant construction experience, preferably in renewable energy projects.
  • Knowledge of project scheduling tools and techniques.
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans or Portuguese; additional languages are a plus.
  • Knowledge of HSE and Quality procedures.
  • SACPCMP registration as a Pr.CM or candidate is advantageous.
