Job description

Job Title: Assistant Catering Manager - Durban

Location: KwaZulu-Natal, Durban

Deadline: September 08, 2025

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Manage on-site front of house staff
  2. Set and manage service delivery standards
  3. Manage rosters, timesheets, and shifts of all staff; submit monthly reports to Catering Manager for approval
  4. Maintain HSE records required by the client and Q-pro
  5. Determine and implement corrective and proactive actions for non-compliance
  6. Support the implementation of the Business Plan for the Unit
  7. Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas at all times
  8. Maintain good staff relations for a productive work environment
  9. Be visible in the service area during peak meal times
  10. Manage customer and client relationships
  11. Ensure staff are trained in using all kitchen equipment
  12. Report negligence and damage of kitchen equipment
  13. Manage equipment maintenance budget
  14. Ensure food quality aligns with contractual agreements
  15. Minimize wastage
  16. Ensure staff wear proper uniforms at all times
  17. Train and supervise staff
  18. Implement quality control measures
  19. Supervise, lead, and motivate employees
  20. Work shifts as required
Qualifications
  1. At least 2 years of supervisory experience in the catering and/or restaurant industry
  2. Completed at least a National Senior Certificate
  3. Experience in cooking, catering, or confectionery jobs is a plus
