Job description

Assistant Catering Manager – Lynwood Glen, Pretoria.

Looking for a proactive and organised Assistant Catering Manager to support the daily operations of a busy, high-standard kitchen and dining facility in Lynnwood Glen.

This role is ideal for someone with a passion for food service and team leadership, who can assist in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, quality presentation, and compliance with health and safety standards.

You will play a key role in staff coordination, food quality oversight, and time-sensitive service delivery.

Salary: R14 00 – R16 000 per month.

5-Year Fixed Term Contract.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position or environment
  • Strong interest in food service and quality control
  • Computer literate – able to manage kitchen records, schedules, and stock via digital tools
  • Ability to delegate, supervise, and support team members effectively
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • High attention to detail, especially regarding food quality and visual presentation
  • Energetic and positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to work long hours, weekends, and shifts
  • Experience or understanding of OSHE
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, high-volume food service environments

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Catering Manager in overseeing kitchen operations
  • Supervise and support food preparation, plating, and service delivery
  • Monitor food quality, hygiene standards, and kitchen cleanliness
  • Help manage staff rosters and coordinate shift activities
  • Provide hands-on support during service and events
  • Maintain stock levels and assist in order management
  • Contribute to team training and staff motivation initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with basic safety and hygiene standards
