About the job: Assistant Accountant/Junior Accountant Xero

UK-based accountancy firm of chartered accountants is seeking a Bookkeeper/Junior Accountant with payroll experience to handle financial administration, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax tasks. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years' bookkeeping experience and possess at least a bookkeeping or accounting diploma or equivalent. Good communication skills in spoken English and email correspondence are essential. The role involves working on Xero accounting software across multiple organizations.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Managing bookkeeping on Xero and hardcopy records
  • Reconciling client bank accounts
  • Processing weekly and monthly payroll
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Communicating regularly with clients to gather missing information
  • Handling small ad-hoc requests as they arise
  • Managing team diaries and responding to client inquiries primarily via email
