Job summary

Freerecruit is assisting a client in identifying a detail‑driven Assistant Accountant to support branch and departmental operations by ensuring accurate processing, reconciliation, and reporting across multiple accounting functions.

The role involves processing financial information from branches, verifying journal entries, and performing VAT and WHT reconciliations while coordinating with managers, auditors, and internal teams to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy across the balance sheet.

Qualifications

• Relevant accounting or finance qualification (certificate, diploma, or degree).
• Previous experience in an accounting support role is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with branch-based accounting processes is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Process and code financial information received from branches.
• Check and verify journal entries and ensure all supporting documents are received and properly filed.
• Import and export CAB files and perform general ledger checks.
• Reconcile journals, matching, balance sheet accounts, VAT declarations, and WHT accounts.
• Prepare timely management reports and analyse financial data to identify discrepancies or unusual items.
• Investigate and resolve accounting issues, escalating concerns to management when needed.
• Maintain balance sheet files and complete turnover comparisons.
• Collaborate closely with branch managers, operational managers, auditors, and internal teams.
• Meet internal and group deadlines while maintaining professional communication and teamwork.

• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.
