Job description

Assistant Accountant required in Newlands, Cape Town.

You’ll support the Accountant across the full accounting function while engaging with internal and external stakeholders.

Salary: R28 000 – R32 000 CTC per month.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completed finance/ accounting related tertiary qualification (Degree preferred)
  • 3 or more years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong MS Office skills with advanced Excel
  • Experience using Pastel
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to clearly communicate with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in property-related finance/ investments industries will be advantageous

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the full accounting function for multiple entities to trial balance
  • Process monthly journals and daily cashbook entries in Pastel
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy
  • Prepare journals, accruals, and closing adjustments
  • Assist with month-end and year-end processes
  • Manage inter-company transactions
  • Reconcile monthly balance sheets and maintain schedules
  • Perform daily cash management and reconciliations
  • Handle the full debtors and creditors function
  • Assist with audits and independent reviews
  • Work with credit team on loan tracking and deal queries
  • Liaise with attorneys, banks, municipalities, and vendors
  • Support VAT, Tax, and compliance functions (CIPC, FICA, NHBRC)
  • Maintain fixed asset register
