Job description

An award-winning UK firm of chartered accountants and tax advisors is looking to hire an Assistant Accountant to work at their office in Cape Town.

As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll be the go - to support for the Management Accountant, assisting with monthly management accounts while keeping operations agile by stepping in across the department when needed.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Daily allocation of incoming and outgoing bank transactions.

  • Performing weekly bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.

  • Assisting with the upkeep of data within the practice management system.

  • Following up on weekly timesheets and ensuring accurate posting.

  • Processing monthly staff expense claims.

  • Managing and updating the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.

  • Reviewing aged payables to verify correct nominal coding of invoices.

  • With growth, the role will expand to oversee Cape Town’s local banking, accounting, and budgeting.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BCom Accounting or Finance / Bachelor of Accounting / Honours in Accounting

  • In - progress CIMA / ACCA

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Skilled at managing priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues.

  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong eye for detail with excellent organizational abilities.

Salary & Benefits:

  • R25 000 - R32 000 / month
