Job description

Job Description : This is a key role that supports the Finance Manager / Head of Finance in overseeing core accounting operations, driving accurate financial reporting and improving process efficiency - particularly across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Month-end.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Accounts Payable (AP) : Oversee the full AP function, including review and approval of supplier invoices entered by the Junior Accounts Assistant. Ensure timely and accurate payments to suppliers in line with agreed terms. Review and approve coding, manage the AP ledger, and ensure completeness and accuracy of records. Perform regular supplier statement reconciliations and investigate / resolving discrepancies. Maintain the AP ledger, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Manage the aged creditors report and support cash flow forecasting related to payables. Act as the primary point of contact for supplier queries and escalations.
  2. Accounts Receivable (AR) : Oversee customer invoicing process, ensuring accuracy and timely billing. Monitor debtor balances and proactively follow up on overdue accounts. Allocate customer receipts and manage the AR ledger. Perform regular reconciliations and investigate any variances. Liaise with the Operations teams to resolve billing or payment issues. Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and prepayments. Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, including AP / AR sub-ledgers, bank accounts, and control accounts. Work closely with the external accountants to assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, providing supporting schedules, reconciliations, and financial data. Identify and implement process improvements across AP, AR, and general accounting workflows. Support external accountants in preparation of VAT returns and assist with external audits. Provide support and guidance to junior finance staff, helping to build team capability. Provide support to the Head of Finance or Finance Manager on any ad hoc tasks or projects as required.

Requirements :

  1. BCom degree in Finance or is part-qualified (CIMA or equivalent), actively studying.
  2. Minimum 3 -5 years of relevant experience in accounting, including both AP and AR.
  3. A good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  4. Good Excel skills and experience with accounting systems (e.g. Xero or Sage).
  5. Excellent attention to detail, with strong organisational and time-management skills.
  6. Proactive and adaptable, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise across departments.
  8. The ideal candidate will be confident working autonomously and have the ambition to progress within a dynamic finance function.

Salary : Market Related
Working Hours : Mon Fri 08 : 00 17 : 00pm
