Job Responsibilities
- Keep tabs of the verification list register.
- Highlight impaired assets to the relevant reporting manager for impairment.
- Assist responsible persons with queries regarding their asset lists.
- Ensure that each list is reviewed and physically verified at least once a year.
- Review and correct subaccounts where applicable.
- Ensure each asset is properly tagged.
- Prepare for and assist internal and external audits with all physical verification requests.
Asset Register Maintenance
- Process transfer of assets between subaccounts and responsible persons.
- Update location, room, and serial numbers of assets as required.
- File supporting documentation for changes to the asset register systematically.
- Handle queries from audits related to asset register documentation.
Asset Write-Off
- Administer the write-off process, including assisting with form completion and providing financial info.
- Verify impaired assets where relevant.
- Process write-off transactions accurately once authorized.
Repairs and Maintenance Schedules
- Compile monthly schedules for repairs, maintenance, and small capital accounts by the 15th of each month.
- Conduct initial inquiries into transactions for capitalization and document findings.
- Assist senior financial staff in determining correct accounting treatments.
Assessment of Fixed Assets
- Assist in assessing remaining useful life and residual values of assets.
- Research residual values of vehicles under supervision.
Quarterly Asset Capitalization
- Gather information for asset capitalization within set timeframes.
- Assist with asset componentization inquiries.
- Ensure new assets are marked with asset numbers.
Stock Issue Recording
- Collect stock issue data from SCM staff.
- Capture stock issues into the inventory module of the financial system.
- Assist with queries and stock count preparations as needed.
Requirements
Key Knowledge & Skills
- ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 with Accounting and Mathematics subjects.
- National Diploma in Financial Accounting or equivalent (advantageous).
Minimum Experience
- At least 3 years in an accounting environment, including 1 year in fixed assets and inventory.
