Job summary

Pronel Personnel in Pietermaritzburg is seeking an experienced Assembly Manager to lead a mechanical and electrical assembly team in a technical manufacturing environment. The role oversees assembly, commissioning, quality, production schedules and driving team performance and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will hold a technical tertiary qualification and have proven experience in assembly, leadership and machine commissioning, with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Technical tertiary qualification (Millwright, Electrician or equivalent).
• Proven experience in mechanical or electrical assembly.
• Strong leadership and staff management experience.
• Project management experience would be advantageous.
• Experience in machine commissioning, fault-finding, installation and set-up.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate mechanical and electrical assembly operations.
• Ensure machines are assembled, tested and commissioned to the required quality and performance standards.
• Monitor production schedules, shipping deadlines and assembly budgets.
• Lead, train, coach and mentor assembly and commissioning staff.
• Manage staff productivity, timekeeping and resource utilisation.
• Control consumable costs and maintain stock levels of components.
• Identify faults, implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement.
• Liaise with engineering, sales, purchasing, suppliers and customers.
• Provide technical support during on-site installations and commissioning when required.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and company procedures.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Assembly Manager to lead a mechanical and electrical assembly team within a technical manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing assembly and commissioning, maintaining quality standards, meeting production schedules and driving team performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate mechanical and electrical assembly operations.

• Ensure machines are assembled, tested and commissioned to the required quality and performance standards.

• Monitor production schedules, shipping deadlines and assembly budgets.

• Lead, train, coach and mentor assembly and commissioning staff.

• Manage staff productivity, timekeeping and resource utilisation.

• Control consumable costs and maintain adequate stock levels of mechanical and electrical components.
