A manufacturing company in Gauteng is seeking an Assembly Instrumentation Technician. Sets and maintains all machines to obtain their optimum efficiencies, ensures that all planned maintenance work is done according to schedules, and that all records are kept up to date. Liaises with QA personnel to maintain high quality standards. Assists with new projects when necessary and works overtime as required. Manages, diagnoses, and maintains digital PLC equipment.
Minimum of 5 years maintenance and setting experience with high-speed packaging, assembly, printing, and manufacturing machines, including knowledge of machine maintenance schedules.
Ability to understand, read, and program PLC controllers (preferably OMRON). PLC experience is essential.
Develop skills for setting all assembly machines (Mechanical and Electrical).
Perform running and preventative maintenance according to a planned schedule. Liaise with the foreman to ensure machines are mechanically sound and adequately lubricated. Complete and sign off maintenance schedules at each shift end.
Monitor machine outputs to achieve high productivity. Maintain optimal settings, report issues, and assist with operator and supervisor training. Ensure all machines are operational before shift end.
Prioritize quality in all work and products. Have thorough knowledge of products and components. Report any product non-performance to QA.
Minimize hazards, keep work areas clean, and meet ISO 14001 standards. Report environmental risks and ensure safety protocols are followed, including near-miss reporting and 5S practices.
Work shifts, including weekends and overtime as scheduled.
Report any suspicious removal of company property. Understand responsibility for security in work areas.
Maintain good relations with colleagues and others during daily operations.
Respect confidentiality of proprietary manufacturing information; prohibit distribution or copying.
