REQUIREMENTS:

1. Appropriate Trade Test Certificate in Plumbing. A valid driver’s License (B1 / Higher).
2. Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and Regulations. It is expected of an official to have a general knowledge of their respective Trades.
3. Must have general knowledge of tools, equipment, and machinery in the workshop.

DUTIES:

1. The successful candidate must be able to compile material quantities per project, maintain all Government Buildings including new work to buildings, be willing to work overtime if required, compile progress reports on projects, and monitor Artisan assistants and Learners. Report directly to Artisan Superintendent. Must have vast knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993.
2. It will be expected of the incumbent to participate in various expeditions including other Islands (Marion, Gough & Antarctica) & Robben Island.
3. The successful candidate must be prepared to climb ladders for inspection, work in confined spaces, dust, heights, and excessive heat.
