Job summary

Sasol is seeking a qualified Mechanical Fitter to support maintenance and reliability at Sasolburg/ Natref Operations. You will perform daily preventative maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on mechanical equipment while adhering to safety and quality procedures.

Requirements include Grade 12/N3 with maths, science and English, an NQF4 Mechanical Fitter or equivalent, and a trade certificate. The role requires standing by, flexibility for overtime, and the ability to work in a team of

Responsibilities

• Perform daily plant preventative inspections and plan own tasks.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and repairs on plant equipment per safety procedures.
• Fault finding on mechanical equipment and identify trends to prevent failures.
• Be able to work independently, in a large team of artisans or diverse disciplines.
• Willing to work standby and overtime when required.

Purpose of Job

To support production by providing effective equipment maintenance and reliability while adhering to procedures/codes, and utilizing all available support resources to increase stability and maintain sustainability of the plant and/or equipment.

• Conduct fault finding on mechanical equipment
• Initiate pro-actives in maintenance

• Identify trends and initiate solutions for specific equipment failures

Formal Education

• Grade 12/ N3 with Maths, Science and English
• NQF level 4 Mechanical Fitter or equivalent qualification ex QCTO certificate
• Trade Certificate a must

Work Experience

• At least 2 year’s maintenance mechanical experience as a qualified Fitter/Learner Artisan Mechanical
• Reading and understanding work management process
• Experience in variety of mechanical equipment, pumps, compressors, drives, mechanical seals, gearboxes, heat exchangers, cooling towers, vessels and piping.
• Bucket elevators, Conveyor belts, Vibrating screens, and Rotating drums

• Be able to work at heights, dirty and noisy areas
• Actively participate in discussions that improve maintenance, quality and safety
• Must be physically fit
• Knowledge of emergency procedures
• Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license
