Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Mechanical Artisan, based at Life St. Dominic’s Hospital, reporting to Fortune Poopedi, Engineering Manager. The job entails the continuous availability of Mechanical services for the Hospital infrastructure. Be a part of a professional team providing high standards in healthcare and a high-tech environment.

Critical Outputs
  • Maintain and repair air-conditioning units, air handling units, heat pumps, vacuum pumps, compressors, autoclaves, kitchen equipment, gas installations, hot and cold water reticulation, and all mechanical equipment.
  • Function independently in a service environment.
  • Complete daily job cards accurately and provide feedback promptly.
  • Carry out stock and inventory control.
  • Be available for after-hours standby and call-out responsibilities.
  • Assist with related ad-hoc functions as requested by management.
Requirements
  • Minimum N5 or equivalent qualifications.
  • Must have a valid Trade Test.
  • At least 4 years’ experience post trade test.
  • Experience in a similar position for at least 4 years.
  • Qualification or experience in maintenance of air-conditioning units is advantageous.
  • Experience in hospital maintenance, plumbing, painting, hospital beds, door locks, carpentry, etc.
  • Knowledge of electrical/mechanical installations and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Ability to complete tasks timely and accurately under pressure.
  • Eager to learn new systems and accept work challenges.
  • Adhere to safe working practices (OHS Act, NOSA guidelines, risk management).
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
  • Ability to do standby duties and call-outs.
