Job summary

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd in Upington, Northern Cape, invites applications for a transmission line inspection role.

You will perform supervised inspections, servitude maintenance, fault investigations and restoration tasks on transmission lines, ensuring safe operations and quality supply. Candidates should have an electrical trade certificate, 2 years of related experience, and a valid C1 driver's license, with strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate required for electrical work (light or heavy current).
• 2 years NTCSA experience in lines and servitudes is preferred.
• Must understand safety and occupational health basics.

Responsibilities

• Perform line inspections and servitude maintenance under supervision.
• Carry out line fault investigations.
• Assist in restoration operations during power line emergencies.

Introduction

Area of specialization: To perform in a safe and effective manner power line inspections, servitude and line maintenance, including defect repairs and restoration tasks on transmission lines using approved tools, equipment, procedures and techniques to ensure optimal line performance and sustainable and continuous quality of supply.Task Grade: T09Business Unit: Western Grid. Location: Upington

Key Responsibilities

• Perform under supervision line inspections, servitude maintenance hardware defect repairs and operating.
• Perform line fault investigations.
• Assist in restoration operations during power line emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental policies.
• Operate, inspect and maintain tools and equipment.
• Enhance customer and stakeholder relations.

Skills and Competencies Required

• Electrical or mechanical engineering

• Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of line work
• Transmission network
• ORHVS authorisation outcome 2 to take, handover the line under supervision
• Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and hazardous substances
• Basic line component identification

• Level 3 maintenance competency authorisation
