About Wessels

The South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese rich Kalahari Basin, in the country’s Northern Cape, which is home to 80 per cent of the world\'s manganese. This position is based at our Wessels Mine which represents one of the largest manganese reserves in South Africa.

About the role

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As an Artisan Boilermaker, you will be responsible for timely installation, repair and maintenance of equipment to ensure that mining activities are executed in a safe manner as well as operate equipment and tests all working parts in functional area to ensure proper utilization.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Interprets and coordinates pre-work with regards to repairs, interpretation of hydraulicdiagrams, planned and predictive maintenance;
• Accesses any area safely to perform necessary maintenance on machines or equipment;
• Performs safety inspections of equipment and assesses risks on equipment;
• Maintains a clean and safe worksite;
• Ensures the upkeep of maintenance tools and equipment.

About you

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Must have a minimum of 3 years’ technical experience as a qualified Boilermaker of which 1 year on Heavy Mining;
• Experience in fabrication of pipe work and structures in an underground environment is essential;
• Ability to read drawings and fabricate accordingly;
• Experience in maintaining fix processing plant equipment will be advantageous;
• Working experience in SAP/1SAP will be advantageous.

Qualifications for this role are:

• Grade 12;
• N2 Technical Certificate;
• Plater/Welder/Boilermaker Trade Test;
• Valid Code 08 Driver’s license is essential.
