Industrial Scientific is a global leader in gas detection solutions committed to keeping people safe in hazardous environments. We are seeking a driven and results-oriented Area Sales Manager to join our team in South Africa. This position will report to the Senior Regional Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve and exceed sales quotas for gas detection solutions across South Africa.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers across industries such as:
Chemical
- Oil & Gas
- Mining
- Manufacturing
- Utilities
Identify customer needs and present Industrial Scientific's gas detection solutions as the best fit for their safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
Manage a network of distributors and channel partners to promote and sell our products effectively.
Deliver sales presentations and technical seminars to educate customers on our gas detection systems.
Build relationships with key decision-makers in South African industries including oil & gas, mining, chemical manufacturing, and utilities.
Negotiate and close contracts with customers, ensuring adherence to pricing and sales policies.
Travel within South Africa to meet with customers and attend industry events.
Collaborate with internal teams such as marketing, application engineering, and customer service to ensure a seamless customer experience.
Participate in sales meetings, conferences, and trade shows to promote our solutions and build brand awareness.
Develop a deep understanding of South African market dynamics, regulations, and the competitive landscape.
Utilize CRM and sales tools to track activities, generate reports, and forecast sales.
Contribute to sales strategy development aligned with company objectives and ethical standards.
Provide ongoing technical and application support to customers to maximize the use of our solutions.
Prepare sales reports and forecasts to support regional and national sales goals.
Maintain a valid South African driver’s license and a willingness to travel extensively within the territory.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (Non-Negotiable) :
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of successful B2B sales experience, preferably in industrial safety or gas detection.
- Proven success in exceeding sales targets in competitive environments.
- Strong understanding of gas detection technologies and applications.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build relationships at all levels with customers and partners.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently.
- Experience working in South Africa with a good understanding of the local market.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED (Negotiable) :
- Knowledge of safety regulations and applications in the oil & gas sector.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Ability to stay informed about industry trends and competitor activities.
- Additional language skills such as Xhosa, Zulu, or Sotho are preferred.
