Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Area Manager to oversee and manage multiple retail franchise outlets between East London and Mthatha.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all stores operate efficiently, meet sales targets, and provide exceptional customer service.

This role requires weekly travel between locations to support store managers and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Operational Management: Ensure that all retail outlets are operating efficiently and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  2. Sales & Profitability: Achieve sales and profitability targets for each outlet. Analyze sales figures and take necessary actions to improve performance.
  3. Staff Management: Recruit, train, and mentor store managers and staff. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development.
  4. Customer Service: Maintain high standards of customer service across all outlets. Address customer complaints and resolve issues promptly.
  5. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock availability. Implement inventory control measures to minimize shrinkage.
  6. Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and security standards. Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.
  7. Financial Management: Manage budgets and financial plans for each outlet. Review financial reports and implement cost-saving measures.
  8. Marketing & Promotions: Coordinate marketing campaigns and promotions to drive sales. Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute local marketing strategies.
  9. Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on store performance, sales, and operational issues to the Regional Manager.
  10. Travel: Conduct regular site visits and audits to ensure that stores are meeting performance and operational standards.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in retail management, with at least 2 years in a multi-store or area management role.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and people management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, proficiency in MS Office and retail management software.
