Our Johannesburg office is currently looking for an Architectural Designer to join our team for a 12-month Fixed-Term Contract.

This role will be part of the Architectural team providing Architectural services and support on projects of varying types and scopes.

The Architectural Designer will report directly to the Senior Architectural Designer, with guidance from the Lead Architect, and will be responsible for developing, producing, and delivering Architectural 3D models and 2D technical drawings according to specific project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Preparation of 3D models, 2D drawings, contract drawings, file management, record keeping, and limited statistical work, based on design direction provided by the Senior Architectural Designer.
  2. Maintaining Architectural CAD standards using 2D and 3D CAD software based on project requirements.
  3. Prepare and develop project-specific and typical design details with limited direction.
  4. Assist the Senior Architectural Designer with project scope, CAD drawing, and submission deliverables.
  5. Attend project meetings as required.
  6. Coordinate with other technologists to develop CAD drawings and layout design.
  7. Check CAD files for standards compliance prior to release.
  8. Support site Architectural/Engineering teams with technical solutions and responses to queries.
  9. Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions.
  10. Provide construction support services as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A recognized degree/diploma in Architecture or Architectural Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience as an architectural draughtsperson.
  • Registration with SACAP as a candidate or professional.
  • Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software such as Microstation, AutoCAD, Bentley AECOsim, Revit, and SketchUp.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary projects including Industrial, Commercial, and Transportation sectors.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Experience in mentoring junior technologists is a plus.
