A company offering apprenticeship programs in South Africa is looking for motivated individuals to become Mechanics under a structured training program. The role includes practical training with a focus on equipment repair, stock control, and customer service. Applicants should have a valid driver’s license and specific N2 qualifications or a relevant Matric Certificate. This is a 3-year contract with training provided at no cost if successful.
AFGRI is offering an opportunity for an exciting apprentice training program at our various branches in South Africa. We seek dynamic, self-motivated individuals with the necessary technical ability, wishing to qualify as an Artisan, and are invited to apply. The Apprenticeship Program affords the incumbent the opportunity to grow within AFGRI under the mentorship of our leaders, informal training as well as on the job development rotations in multidisciplinary teams.
This apprenticeship will be a 3 year in-service training experience towards a qualification known as Tractor or Earthmoving Mechanic. The first 6 months is a probationary period. This period is used for the company and the employee to determine if it is a long-term relationship. Either party may withdraw in this period without any consequences. Thereafter the apprentice will be bound by an AFGRI contract and commence formal training.
This training includes: The apprentice will attend a Practical Training Institute in the required phases (if needed). At the same time the apprentice will be registered for N subjects required at a College and will study via distance learning (if needed and if available). Attendance at classes on Saturdays is expected. Distance learning may continue as needed while at the workplace. The apprentice will undergo Product Training at the John Deere Training Facility in Boksburg and with other suppliers as well as internal training hosted by our Specialists.
Above mentioned training does not have training costs involved to the apprentice if passed, but any training that is failed will have to be redone in own time and costs. All apprentices are bound by the contract. This is a 3 year contract with AFGRI. Should the apprentice withdraw within the apprenticeship or the “work-back period” there will be costs involved. Depending on time and phase of withdrawal, the costs will be calculated. It is expected that the apprentice will work back the time it took to qualify. The contract cannot be extended for more than 4 years. If the apprentice has not qualified in 4 years, the contract expires.
