About the Role

Our client, a major industrial processing company in Vereeniging, Gauteng, is seeking a diligent and technically minded Apprentice Instrumentation Technician. This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of industrial control systems and instrumentation. The apprentice will receive comprehensive training in the installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of measurement and control instruments used in industrial processes. Working under the supervision of experienced technicians, you will gain practical knowledge of electronic, pneumatic, and digital control systems. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation, wiring, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems.
• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and testing of process instruments such as transmitters, sensors, valves, and controllers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot instrumentation faults and implement corrective actions.
• Read and interpret P&ID diagrams, loop drawings, and technical manuals.
• Use specialized test equipment for diagnostics and calibration.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations applicable to an industrial environment.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, calibration, and repair activities.
• Participate in on-call schedules for emergency repairs as required.
• Work collaboratively with process engineers and operators to ensure system reliability.
• Assist with the upgrade and modification of existing instrumentation systems.

Requirements

• Matric certificate with strong results in Mathematics, Physical Science, and potentially Technical Drawing or Engineering subjects.
