Applications Specialist

We are looking for a professional to join us as an Applications Specialist in South Africa. The role involves training underground mining personnel in the use of Kennametal mining products, reporting back, and recommending continuous improvement projects (via the Sales Engineer), as well as testing new and existing products underground to support growth.

Preferred location: Mpumalanga province or Johannesburg area (office located in Boksburg).

Accountability

1. Train underground personnel of customers on the correct usage of tools underground while promoting and testing Kennametal products to enhance continuous improvement for the customer and growth for Kennametal in the mining sector.
2. Provide daily feedback to customers and Kennametal personnel on the current conditions of underground mining and the usage of tools and equipment.
3. Monitor and report on tests conducted.
4. Document the performance and production of consumables used underground.

Knowledge and Experience

• At least a high school diploma and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in underground mining. A bachelor's degree in Engineering is a plus.
• Knowledge and experience in mining machinery and equipment.
• Practical knowledge in the application and use of cutting systems, roof-support systems, and relevant replacement parts and consumables.
• Ability to identify and analyze significant problems and opportunities.
• Exhibits dynamism, charisma, excitement, a positive attitude, and a can-do mindset.
