Applications Specialist

In Kennametal we are looking for a professional to join us as Applications Specialist in South Africa. The purpose of the role is to train underground mining personnel in the use of Kennametal mining products. Also, to report back and recommend to customers continuous improvement projects (via the Sales Engineer) and to test new and existing products underground to enhance growth. Preferred location: Mpumalanga province or Johannesburg area (office located in Boksburg).

Accountability

1. Train underground personnel of customers on the correct usage of tools underground while promoting and testing Kennametal products to enhance continuous improvement for the customer and growth for Kennametal in the mining sector.
2. Daily feedback to Customers and Kennametal personnel on current conditions of underground mining in the usage of tools and equipment.
3. Monitor and report back on tests conducted.
4. Document performance and production of consumables used underground.

Knowledge and Experience

1. At least a high school diploma and a minimum of three years' experience in underground mining.
2. Bachelor's degree in Engineering will be a plus.
3. Knowledge and experience in mining machinery and equipment.
4. Practical knowledge in the application and use of cutting systems, roof-support systems and relevant replacement parts and consumables.
5. Identifies and analyzes significant problems and opportunities.
6. Exhibits dynamism, charisma, excitement, positive "can do" attitude.
