Role Overview

As an Application Technician, you will provide second-level application support for all Fronius products and systems installed across South Africa.

Tasks & Responsibilities

1. Functional Support: Provide application technical advice and support.
2. Installation & Updates: Install and update Fronius products, including software.
3. Demonstrations & Training: Organize and conduct welding demonstrations, tests, and training sessions.
4. System Operation: Operate and program robot control units and mechanized systems.
5. Application Optimization: Create specific welding parameters to optimize applications.
6. Documentation: Record activities and reports on the Fronius intranet (CRM, SharePoint, etc.).
7. Services & Support: Commission welding systems, provide expert training, and assist with production start-up.
8. Technical Support: Perform fault-finding remotely or on-site.
9. Event Participation: Support trade fairs and national events.
10. Customer Support: Provide telephone and email assistance on welding queries.
11. Market Feedback: Relay customer and market feedback to Fronius International.
12. System Configuration: Assist with complex system proposals and configurations.
13. Equipment Management: Manage storage of demonstration and rental equipment.

Requirements

• Technical qualification in a metalworking field (e.g., pipeline construction, steel engineering, machine construction, shipbuilding).
• Extensive knowledge of MMA, TIG, and MIG/MAG welding processes.
• Red Seal in welding, coded welder, or IIW IWP certification.
• Basic knowledge of robot handling.
• Electrical knowledge is advantageous.
• Strong sales, communication skills, and a customer-oriented attitude.
• Proficiency in MS Office and related IT skills.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
• Commitment to further training and team collaboration.
• Valid driving license.
