A leading company is seeking two experienced Application Support Administrators to join a transformative Payments Ecosystem project in Pretoria. Ideal candidates will have strong Java, SQL, and server management skills to support and optimize critical financial applications. This is your opportunity to contribute to the optimisation of Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) systems and the future of digital payments infrastructure.Role OverviewAs an Application Support Administrator, you will monitor, maintain, and support Java-based payment applications hosted on IBM WebSphere and Apache Tomcat.
You will also play a critical role in server resource monitoring, ETL processes, application updates, and supporting key financial infrastructure systems (SAMOS and SADC-RTGS) using the FNA platform.Minimum Qualifications and ExperienceProven experience in a production application support environment.Strong understanding of Java-based applications and server administration.Hands-on experience with IBM WebSphere and Apache Tomcat.Proficient in SQL and database performance monitoring.Familiar with ETL process monitoring and troubleshooting.Working knowledge of AIX / Linux administration.Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a strong advantage.Experience with log monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, ELK, Graylog.Automation scripting for monitoring / maintenance (desirable).Knowledge of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor Java web applications (WebSphere / Tomcat) for performance issues and errors.Conduct application support and troubleshooting for payment systems.Perform application upgrades and updates to meet security compliance.Monitor and support ETL processes and ensure data flow integrity.Collaborate with development and system admin teams for root cause analysis.Document application support procedures and update knowledge base materials.Ensure adherence to change control and release management protocols.Monitor server CPU, memory, and disk usage for optimal performance.Perform Java and WebSphere / Tomcat maintenance and patching.Drive proactive resolution of issues and uphold SLA targets (98% uptime).Support capacity management and escalate recurring issues as needed.Assist with installation and decommissioning tasks related to application infrastructure.Prepare and submit knowledge transfer materials and handover documentation.Application monitoring & ETL performance reports.Server resource monitoring & maintenance logs.Timely updates on application / system issues and resolutions.Updated system support documentation and user manuals.Knowledge transfer documents for post-implementation continuity.Why Join This Project?Be at the centre of modernising Southern Africa's payment systems.
