Job Description

The company is seeking to employ an Application Specialist for the Laboratory Division, based in Johannesburg.

The successful candidate must be an industry expert in their specific area of specialization and possess broad knowledge of their industry. The role involves managing the client engagement process, demonstrating the company's product range to clients, and presenting the best solutions and equipment.

This position is responsible for growing the division and managing supporting resources to ensure product sales. The Applications Specialist will align with the national strategy and work directly with the Regional Sales Manager and the Product Manager.

The primary role is to represent the company professionally to clients and prospects, consulting with decision-makers during assessments, needs analysis, and meetings, with a focus on promoting equipment by demonstrating its features and benefits.

The target audience includes private Pathology laboratories across Gauteng, North West, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Introducing relevant machines through demonstrations and highlighting their benefits.
  2. Building and maintaining relationships by providing support, information, and guidance, and promoting equipment to high-level professionals.
  3. Developing in-depth knowledge of the Laboratory product range and services.
  4. Understanding the competition and our positioning to exploit our unique selling points.
  5. Supporting, coaching, and training the sales team to achieve goals.
  6. Supporting during trials, providing after-sale training, and conducting follow-up visits.
  7. Demonstrating and training clinical personnel and technical staff on equipment operation.
  8. Attending meetings, conferences, and exhibitions to promote products and services.
  9. Handling general administrative tasks related to the position.

Requirements:

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Relevant diploma/degree in Clinical Pathology or Medical Technology.
  • South African citizenship.
  • Own vehicle and valid driver’s license.

Skills required:

  • Experience in Serology, Microbiology, and/or Haematology.
  • Ability to operate, demonstrate, and train effectively on equipment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Client-oriented approach.
  • Ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Product knowledge and presentation skills.
  • Customer service skills, sales support, territory management, prospecting, self-confidence, and influence.
  • Proven track record and high technical ability.

  • Willingness to work after hours and on weekends as needed.
  • Previous application experience and experience in the medical industry are advantageous.
